The Victorian Government has elected to end the Melbourne Bike Share partnership with RACV, which is why the service ceased on 30 November 2019.
RACV is proud to have operated the Melbourne Bike Share scheme for almost a decade and remains committed to improving the lives of Victorians by helping them get around in smart and sustainable ways.
Individuals with an annual pass will receive a pro-rata refund in December. For further information or assistance, please select one of the options below:
Why is this service being removed?
The decision has been made by the State Government to discontinue the Melbourne Bike Share scheme as of 30 November 2019.
Is the Government unhappy with the way RACV has been operating the service?
RACV has worked closely with Government and local councils to manage a bike share scheme that is sustainable, integrated into Melbourne’s transport network, and part of Melbourne’s culture.
Can RACV not run this service on its own?
The Government’s decision to discontinue the Melbourne Bike Share scheme is unfortunate. RACV have explored all options and have determined we are not in a position to run the scheme without their involvement.
Will I get a refund as an annual subscriber?
All annual subscribers will receive a pro-rata refund equivalent to the number days left on their membership. This will be performed in December.
What happens to my data?
RACV may retain member data where it is required for another product or service that the member has with RACV, or where the member has consented to RACV sending them marketing information or offers from RACV. Non-member data will be securely destroyed.
What happens to the stations and bikes?
The bikes will be donated and every effort will be made to re-use station components and parts where possible. We will responsibly recycle in the instance where re-use is not possible.
Can I still buy Melbourne Bike Share helmets?
Melbourne Bike Share helmets will be unable for purchase post 30 November 2019.
